Signups are now available for the upcoming "TGL Burning Nations Frontlines: Fuel of War Tournament". This premiere FFOW tournament already has many top teams signed up such as Team HOT, 20ID and Dignitas giving the game a great competitive beginning. A beta is available through Fileplanet but keys are limited.
The game format will be 6v6 on the Frontline game mode. Vehicle and other restrictions are still to be determined.
Frontlines: Fuel of War is set in a dystopian 2024 in the midst of a global energy crisis. As supplies of oil and natural gas wane, diplomatic relationships between the East and West were strained, causing new alliances to be formed. The two major alliances in the Frontlines era are the Western Coalition, consisting of the United States and the European Union, and the Red Star Alliance, made up of Russia and the People's Republic of China. As the last oil fields start to go dry, the countries move to secure what resources are left, leading to several small outbreaks that turn quickly into full scale war.

Team HOT wins debut Crysis LAN Tournament
|
Team HOT attending GeForce LAN IV (presented by Nvidia) on November 16th-18th to compete in Team Fortress 2 and Crysis. We arrived Friday afternoon to Oakland, California where most of our team went out looking for Rosscon 2007 and a place to get really intoxicated. Lashton Bryth, Bottobot, Nevets, and Easton stayed around and played in the Crysis free for all, with Lashton and Botto making the finals (Lashton finished 4th and botto...errrr).
Team Fortress 2 started their double elimination tournament early Saturday with Team HOT matching up against Flaming Rainbows. They destroyed us with little to no effort on Well, putting us in the losers bracket. We won our next two matches but faced High Self Esteem (one of the best TF2 teams) and got beat even worse. With our limited TF2 experience, we knew it was a long shot for us to win but losing turned out to be a blessing in disguise.
The Crysis 6v6 tournament started late Saturday night. We were informed before our TF2 match vs. HSE that if we made the final four, we would not be able to participate in the Crysis 6v6 tournament. Our loss put us in a position to compete in it and we took advantage. Botto spent the prior two weeks practicing for Crysis (the rest of us didn't play it) and he really helped as we marched into the finals and pulled out a win for the Nvidia GeForce IV Crysis 6v6 championship and some nice prizes. Our trip ended as a success as we got a bit of humble pie in TF2 and some nice prizes in Crysis. Hats off to Nvidia and the tournament organizers for putting together a really nice lan. We hope to see everyone there again next year.

Gamespot "Earth Under Siege" Champions!

Gamespot "Earth Under Siege" Champions!
| Friday marked the finals of Gamespot's Earth Under Siege tournament between Team HOT and Exile. These two teams have become quite familiar with each other in the ET:QW scene, having played each other in the finals of XFire's invitational and the quarterfinals of TGL's Scorched Earth tournament. This final took place on Island and held an abnormally large prize for the winners: each member of the winning team would receive HP Blackbirds! |
Finals of
Gamespot Earth Under Siege

Map: Island

| Round 1 - Exile 20:00 3rd objective |
Round 2 - TeamHOT 6:50 Full cap
|
| Round 5 - TeamHOT 3:13 Full cap |
Round 7 - Exile 3:13 3rd Objective
|
TeamHOT [4 - 0] Exile
|
|
Round 1 started with Team HOT defending and things got off to a bit of a slow start for us. Exile pushed through our defense on the first stage in a little over 3 minutes, giving them plenty of time to do the next two objectives. Our second stage defense held fairly nicely (over 7 minutes), giving Exile 10 minutes to do the final objective and set a time for us to beat. Team HOT played flawless 3rd objective defense, leading to a full hold and requiring us to merely set any time to go up 2-0 in the match.
Our GDF first stage went really well with us taking no time to repair the generator and move onto the detonating objective. This went by fairly quickly as well, leaving us plenty of time to do the final objective (capture the plans) and win the first set. Xil played solid defense for a while on the 3rd stage but we finally got the plans through (with around a 7 minute cap) and took a 2-0 lead.
Set 2 would either lead to a deciding third set or give Team HOT the win and the championship. Team HOT started on offense and set an incredibly fast time, doing all three stages with barely any resistance and setting a 3:12 time. This put Xil in a very difficult position of having to best it and while they did the first stage at least at fast as we had done ours, they faltered on the second stage. Team HOT's victory was their 5th championship in 6 tournaments so far in Enemy Territory with their only blemish at Quakecon 2007 against the great European team Dignitas.
